Whether comic or tragic, the human condition is a universal theme. Inspired by childhood memories growing up in Viet Nam, Lebadang's La Comedie Humaine is a parade of past, present, and future. From innocence, ardor of discovery, midlife lull, to serenity or anguish of senescence, the human essence is clearly captured in these simple and familiar shapes. [CN]
info: The artist created the image by drawing directly onto lithographic
plates, and by drawing directly onto textured mylar surfaces with a variety
of substances. These completed hand-drawn mylars were then chemically
transferred onto lithographic plates. Proofs were pulled from the plates
and corrections were made by the artist. The entire edition was then pulled,
one color at a time, then embossed. Each print in the edition was inspected
and signed by hand, in pencil, by the artist.
